HOW TO USE CBD OIL

Except for FDA-approved uses of the CBD molecule for treatment of seizures, CBD dosing recommendations are all anecdotal (i.e. the informal, personal testimony of others) or unconfirmed (i.e. not scientifically tested to an acceptable degree of certainty).  In one recent [1] literature review, a total of 35 scientific studies were examined and showed that in 23 of these experiments, a significant improvement in primary outcomes was observed.  Yet, more studies need to be conducted to draw defensible conclusions.

IS CBD SAFE?

Potential side effects of CBD include nausea, fatigue, and irritability. CBD can interact with other drugs in much the same way as grapefruit juice. So if you take prescription medication, it is especially important to check with your doctor before using a product containing CBD.

That being said, there is a broad range of human experience with the hemp plant that spans thousands of years (much like caffeine).  If you think CBD could help you, the best advice you can take (next to consulting with a doctor) is to start slow.

INITIAL DOSING OF CBD PRODUCTS

As a rule of thumb, start with a small baseline dosage between 2-5mg, two or three times daily (6-10mg total). Next, maintain your baseline dosage for 7 days and take note of how the CBD interacts with your body.

If you are not receiving the benefits you were expecting after the initial 7 days of taking your baseline CBD dosage, then increase the daily dosage by 1-2 mg every 3 days until you find the dosage that is most suited to you. Once you have determined your minimum effective dose, you may wish to decrease your dosage by one step to see if you can maintain the benefits at a slightly lower dosage.

The Mayo Clinic suggests CBD dosages based on scientific research, publications, traditional use, and expert opinion. Cannabinoid dosages and the duration of treatment depend mainly on the illness (and countless other factors).  If you want to see a summary of specific doses for various illnesses from the Mayo Clinic, check out our Frequently Asked Questions (FAQ) page at https://www.bluegoosebotanicals.com/frequently-asked-questions-hemp-cbd.
